Hi from NY state

Post by RhinoGT »

Hi fellow Ford truck enthusiasts,
I have had this page bookmarked for a while and thought it was time to make it official.

4 1/2 years ago, on Father's day, my Dad and I drove 3 hours to Pennsylvania to buy my MINT 1972 F250 Sport Custom 4WD with 31,000 miles on the clock! I drove that truck home with an an ear to ear grin on my face. It was exactly what I wanted, at the right price and within driving distance. The few things that were wrong with it were minor (drivers side vent handle broken) and I found parts on ebay to make it perfect.

A short 9 months later, on a rainy morning, some idiot with a new car and anti-lock brakes cut between me and a city bus. My sudden and heavy mis-application of the brake pedal resulted in a Joey Chitwood style 2 wheel adventure across the road, over the curb, head-on into a light pole, spinning around and crushing the bed side against yet another utility pole. :( Luckily old Ford trucks are tough, and I walked away.

Anyway, I am still here and the truck, although much, much uglier still runs like a truck with less than 40,000 miles. It took me 3 years to not wince everytime I see it, but I am finally over it and am starting to drive it regularly. Maybe I can even bring it back to its former glory.

I am looking forward to talking with all of you, reading the forums and posting what little I know about these trucks.
