c4 short shaft rear seal
I have a '71 lwb with the short tail shaft c4 that I'm fixing to rebuild. I've already got the rebuild kit and noticed it came with the rear tail housing seal for a short bed type(long tail housing, smaller seal). So now I have to come up with the right seal. My quesion is, would anybody happen to have the part number for the short shaft rear seal? I've tried the search feature and only came up with the one I don't need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

This not help at all?

If not maybe take the old one out, (if you can) and take it down to NAPA.

Yes that does help, thanks. I had seen this in my first forum search. But I wasn't sure those were actual part numbers or just reference numbers.
But its definately worth a try.
Thanks basketcase!

Hope I didn't mislead you, they are just reference numbers as far as I know. Here's the tutorial on breaking down the Ford part numbers.
http://www.fordification.com/tech/partn ... erview.htm
There is a Ford parts number section here, but it's not complete and doesn't have the tranny yet:
http://www.fordification.com/partnos/partnos-index.htm
As far as I know it would take a MPC to get the part number you need? Maybe Hawkrod or another member here has more info on the numbers. But maybe printing the above schematic, (for reference to take to a parts store) might help.
