Enjoyed work last night moving oilfield (fracking) equipment

Post by dolinick »

Not humor exactly but I just need to vent a little bit. I made a few mistakes and could have been a little more efficient(quicker) but overall Phillip and I did a good job last night. Most importantly we did it safely!

Last night I was dispatched around midnight after being assigned "guard duty" starting at 6:30 p.m. I gladly accepted it and drove the "chase vehicle" for Philip who is a new driver. Upon arriving at SLB with our "request number" the dispatcher had no information about the truck movement. I managed to get the truck number from my "team leader" and proceeded to search the yard for it. We found the truck and began to do our "pre trip inspection" and found it had an expired radiation permit, was not fueled, and the actual radiation doors were left in the "ON" position with one padlock unsecure and the other padlock with the key broken off inside. After receiving the current permit and shipping papers and fueling up the tractor we waited for SLB to move the radiation doors into the proper "OFF" position and secure with new padlocks. After calling "eJourney" and getting authorization to begin our trip to Tilden we had been there for over 2 hours. We headed out to the "Frac" site arriving at 5:30 a.m. which was about 30 minutes late. Needless to say SLB was outraged and I have been suspended apparently because I failed to call Schneider dispatch within the first hour to report the delays while picking up the unit (tractor trailer) at the SLB terminal. Until further notice I will not be dispatched on any SLB truck movements but I will still be assigned "guard" duty at our new yard in Elmendorf. Oh, Philip and I arrived safely back at the yard about 8 a.m. This is a typical day/night at work btw except maybe for the suspended part.

That sucks that you got the suspension, but atleast you did things the right way and the safe way. I dont know what the laws are but if you had forged ahead and gotten pulled over the consequences could have been way worse right?
