The steps involved in that transformation...
I can't even remember half the stuff I did.
I stayed up all night painting. Watched the sun go down, AND come back up.
The t-case isn't as orange as it looks (camera flash). It's a factory rust primer color.
I rolled the sandblasted chassis out while it was sunny. Took some pictures, cleaned it, metal-ready, rinsed, ready for por-15.
Then I layed down the primer coat on the engine, followed by the ford blue later in the day.
Painted the t-case, tranny, drive shafts, other stuff and bellhousing.
New t-case bushings. The old bushings were absolutely destroyed. These should do the trick.
Before painting
Other stuff:
Installed wiring, speedo cable, tranny/clutch/t-case linkages, driveshafts, steering box/linkage, trimmed steering column shaft and fitted '69 steering wheel and painted, layed down two more rolls of sound deading in the cab, painted the firewall black (I'm painting the column/firewall black so i can easily change colors of the truck if i want in the future)
I didn't meet my shooting for the stars goal of getting the cab on today, but i was surprisingly close. The only reason i didn't drop it back on today was because it started raining (first time this year) and my dad was tired from cutting down trees. This week the cab/front clip/hood will be back on and I'll get everything hooked up.
It has started to rain here, so I NEEEEED to get this truck done ASAP. My '71 + rain + current tires = death trap.
BUt hte chassis is 95% done... cab/ front clip/hood will be on with 2 hours time, and then a few days to hook everything up. This '69 should be my daily driver by Halloween
