Hi,
My name is Gary and I am a 46 year old recovering Chevy addict from Washington State.

I have always appreciated the look of the earlier Ford trucks, though, especially anything built prior to 1973. I ended up here because I needed a truck to run back and forth to the dump, haul yard waste and car parts, etc. as well as find a vehicle that my son could learn to drive on and use occasionally. One day last month I was talking to my neighbor who happened to have a green '72 F100 sitting in his yard. I asked him about it and he started telling me how he had been trying to sell it for $1500 dollars. It had a new 390 engine, recent rebuild on the transmission as well as newer brakes. Anyway, he said he was probably going to drop his price to $1000. Since the truck looked pretty straight I blurted out that I would give him 1000 for it. Mind you, I really hadn't looked it over that carefully. Well - Have you ever done something stupid? I bough the truck and it wasn't till I got it home that I began to discover the true condition of the truck. Let's just say I found out why there is a bedliner in it. Oh, and cab corners? What cab corners? Floor pans you say? None that I found. The battery is practically falling though the inner fender. I think the bedliner and the floor mat are what is holding this poor beast together. On the bright side, the truck has factory installed "working" air, looks decent from a few feet away, runs, drives and stops and surprisingly the radiator support is rock solid and rust free. Needless to say I was somewhat disillusioned, especially since I already new I was going to have to buy tires, shocks and a windshield. After seeing some of the nice trucks on this site I basically resigned myself to having been taken and I figured I'd just have to suck it up. Anyway, that all changed a few days ago. I was browsing craig's list for parts and stumbled across a super straight '71 Ranger XLT that needed a motor for only $500! The best part is it was 5 miles from my house! Anyway, to make a long story short I went to see the truck and found it was very solid with only minor rust here and there, had a perfect windshield, new radial tires and a great interior. Of course I made it mine!

I am going to put the 390 in the '71. I may take the air if it's not too difficult. I'll put pics up soon of both trucks. In closing I just want to say that this is the most AWESOME site on the internet for these trucks. Nothing else will do!
