Hello,
I have to repair the brakes on my 1969 F250 Camper Special. And I´d like to replace the old jam nuts and lock washers with the "Stage8 X-lock" nuts. Does anyone know if they fit on the rear Axle? On stage8.com they don´t make any difference, but on summitracing.com they say, they are only available for 4WD front axles. I tried to contact Stage8, but they didn´t answer my Email. And what´s the correct size for the socket? I have on 2-9/16 inch socket, but that seems to be to wide.
Thanks for help
Chris
Edit: rear axle code on the VIN-tag: 38, so it´s a DANA 60

Re: Rear spindle nuts
I can't help you regarding the lock nuts, but a standard 2-9/16 socket will not work. You need one of these:

The walls are thinner to be able to get down in there. Good luck!![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)

Re: Rear spindle nuts
I thought the drum retaining nuts on my rear axle were going to be 2-9/16". They WERE NOT. It seems 1969 was the year before or right before they went to thicker spindles for the rear. I wound up having to order a 2-3/8" 1/2" drive thin-wall socket to remove/install mine. I just beat the locking washer flat then used tabs that weren't used before to hold them down.

Re: Rear spindle nuts
Thanks for your help.
Meanwhile I got an answer. Maybe someone is interested:
Hello Christoph,
Yes the X-Lock will fit on both front and rear axles. Because the rear axles can use different hubs you will need to check for proper clearance before using the X-Lock on a rear axle. Part number DNA-60 will need a minimum of 3.030 inches inside the hub for the X-Lock to fit. Some rear hubs have the clearance and some do not.
