Asphalt seal on front fender

Post by Canonman67 »

When I took the front fenders off the truck I found what seemed to be an asphalt strip between the outer and inner fender. I'm assuming it was there to prevent nooise and maybe as a seal. Since I can't seem to find a replacement part I was wondering what everyone else used. I thought maybe fender welt or something similar?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Robroy, that's exactly the information I was looking for. I'm not at this step yet but hopefully next month I will be.
Sargentrs, I owe you a thank you too. I'm using the same cab insulation you did, never would have found that company without reading about it in your build thread.

I'm sure glad this subject was discussed. It hasn't cross my mind to have some type of sealant between the inner/outer fenders. I don't recall seeing any when separated the two, but i can see how it will help with water issues. Now the sealant is something i have to look into. Thanks for the info on this subject guys. I've been schooled! :fr:

Good day Randy, Canonman67 and Jimmy828,

Randy, you're welcome, and thanks for being so appreciative. It's FORDification's most experienced guys, who answered all my questions, who really deserve to be thanked; without them, my threads would only be dead-end questions.

Canonman67 and Jimmy828, you're welcome. 'hope y'all enjoy the Strip-Calk's aroma as much as I did.
