Can I use a passenger car C6?

Post by FloridaPhil »

My 1968 F100 2WD short bed came with a 360 engine and a three speed manual column shifted transmission. I want to buy a C6 to swap into my truck. Can I use a passenger car C6 if buy a slip yoke and a new drive shaft? Do I need a different crossmember or transmission mount? Do I need to change the C6 shift levers? Anything else? Thanks!

Yes, a car C6 is fine, just remember the round bell pattern........Are you going, reman or salvage yard? If U are going to the yard, get the trans & driveshaft, they are easy to shorten......I don't know about the X member....someone who does mods will chirp in with the answers 4 U. Donnie

I'm going the remanufactured route. I can buy an automatic crossmember if I need one. I saw a former post that says something about the mount being offset. Building a new drive shaft is easy. Thanks!
